	Daniel M. Tani Astronaut First Flight ! Let's Encourage Him !!

		There are the people who are going into space! One of them, Mr.Daniel M. Tani, will be going into space for the first time. We sent him messages to commemorate his first flight and to wish for the mission's success. It is really exciting to think that the astronaut we are sending messages to is going to be working in space!

He is a crew of STS-108 mission.
(about STS-108 : Goto NASA HP. and click "SHUTTLE", look for "STS-108 mission".)
He is secand Japanese American astronaut.
(First is Mr.Onizuka who is a crew of 51-L mission by Space-Shuttle Challenger.)
He have visited in Tokashiki-island,Okinawa for a lecture.
The lecture inspired us very much.
When we knew Mr.Tani's first flight, we decided to send our messages!

Well, I'm finally here! I just wanted to drop all of you a quick note to tell you how much I appreciate your words of encouragement, concern, and support in the past few weeks. It is wonderful knowing that my life touches so many of yours - and I'm a stronger and happier person for all of those relationships.

What's it like? I can't even begin to describe. As I type, I'm trying to figure out how to support my arms, as getting (and staying) in the "keyboard typing" position isn't as easy as sitting at a desk. The view is incredible. But mostly, it is hard work - we have been busy since the moment of launch, and I don't anticipate it letting up until we land. Every moment, I have something I need to be doing or can be helping out someone else. These missions are expensive, and we're tying to make sure the taxpayers are getting their money's worth.

Again, I just wanted to thank everyone that sent words of encouragements and good wishes. My family and I really appreciate it, and my thoughts are with all of you.

Dear Mr. Tani

My name is Takashi Ito and I'm a friend of Mr. Oshiro's. I participated NASDA Summer School and met him. There, I met many other friends who has the same dream toward Space Developments and had a wonderful time. It is my great pleasure that I may write this message to you.

Since the Japan's H2A rocket was successfully launched, I am confident that Japan's space development will become more active in the future.I'm sure more and more Japanese will be interested in space activities and your astronaut activities in space will bring us lots of dreams. We Japanese really feel close to you and hope your mission will be successful.

Please take care of yourself and I hope you will have a wonderful mission.

There is a scene in one of my favorite Science-Fiction stories.
  A veteran pilot asked a rookie astronaut who just finished her first flight.
  'Why do you go to space?'
  She answered, 'To know where I am.'
  'Good answer.' Then,he recognized her as his teammate.
Mr.Tani, Please teach us from space,
'Why do you go to space?' and 'Where are we?'
